Early Pregnancy Scan
Early pregnancy scan is recommended if you have a history of Miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy or if there is bleeding or lower abdominal pain
It is indicated when last menstrual period date is uncertain or for suspected multiple gestation to allow for reliable determination of chorionicity or amnionicity. First trimester ultrasound is also recommended for suspected ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, and suspected pelvic masses. First trimester ultrasound is also recommended for early assessment of anatomic development in situations of increased risk for major fetal congenital malformations.
The aims of this scan are to determine the number of embryos present and whether the pregnancy is progressing normally inside the uterus.

- Confirmation of an early/viable pregnancy
- Measurement of the gestation sac and the Crown Rump Length (CRL)(if possible)
- Detection of heartbeat. (If Pregnancy is more than 6 Weeks.
- Between 6 and 10 weeks.
- 2x b/w images.
- 30 minutes appointment.

There is a £20 surcharge for twins & multiple pregnancies due to the extra time required in the scan.
